Why Choose Epoxy Coating?

What is epoxy?

The first thing you need to know about Orlando epoxy floor system is what exactly epoxy is. With its rising popularity for many properties, you may have heard from people about how great epoxy is without actually getting an explanation of what epoxy is. Knowing about the material that makes up your floors is crucial to understanding your floors, what they need, how to make them last, as well as what you should avoid doing on your floors.

So what is it? Epoxy is a two-part mixture that is made from resins and hardeners. Combined, they form an epoxy coating — an extremely durable material that can easily bond to any flooring you apply it to. Epoxy is unlike any other flooring material on the market. Firstly, it is a purely synthetic material that can be easily modified, unlike other flooring materials that cannot shift form easily. Epoxy coating also manages to combine incredible strength, durability (it can last for decades), versatility, and beautiful aesthetic quality – all in one affordable coating that can be further modified according to a property’s needs. While it was first used as flooring in industrial spaces like warehouses, factories, manufacturing plants, and other similar properties, word of its benefits has spread and it has achieved great popularity in garage floor, commercial, and residential properties where it was not always commonly found.

What are the benefits of an epoxy Coated Floor?

As people who work with epoxy coating on a near-daily basis, we can absolutely guarantee that epoxy flooring systems are a choice you will not regret. This is why:

DURABILITY
Probably epoxy’s most commonly known-about advantage, and for good reason. Epoxy flooring was developed for industrial properties and warehouses where regular flooring was no longer serving them in the way they needed from their flooring. Epoxy was the solution – it did not chip, flake, crack, or dent in any way. That made it extremely suitable for places where accidents happen and where heavy goods are used and moved around.
LONGEVITY
People may tell you that epoxy flooring does not count as a permanent flooring solution because of the way it is commonly applied as a coating for another flooring material. But what they should know is that epoxy might as well be permanent because of how long it stays in its prime and spotless condition. Its strength plays a hand in the way it can last for up to 25 years with the right maintenance and treatment. When you get epoxy floors, you won’t have to worry for a long time about what you should replace it with, and that’s a big boon to cost-effectivity.

AFFORDABILITY
Epoxy does not need to be as readily replaced as fast as possible as is the case with other flooring materials like plain and decorative concrete or wood. That makes it an affordable flooring system, but it is also innately affordable already. Compared to other flooring materials that share the same popularity as epoxy, you will not be paying nearly as much per square foot. That’s because epoxy can be bought almost anywhere and is not a hard material to find. That makes it very consumer-friendly. But beyond that, it is also not an extremely hard material to install, even if you seek professional help for the job (which we recommend).

EASY MAINTENANCE
We love epoxy floors because they’re not fussy. And we know you’ll love them for the same reason, too, when you experience how easy they are to maintain and clean. Because of epoxy’s unique capabilities, it can resist most dust, stains (both regular and chemical), and dirt that would typically litter the surface of any other floor. In fact, most dirt that does stick to epoxy floors can be cleaned up with a dry or wet mop, and spills can be easily wiped up because they don’t settle into the epoxy. For commercial and industrial properties that need extreme cleanliness, epoxy floors can also be modified to be bacteria-resistant.

VERSATILITY
If you’re hesitant to consider epoxy flooring because of a penchant you have for home decor and beautiful floors, you should know that epoxy has a large repertoire of potential looks and designs. Not only do they come in a variety of colors and finishes, but epoxy can also be combined with other materials to create flooring that is personalized and unique.

Installation Areas

Residential

Epoxy flooring for homes is becoming extremely popular for many homeowners. Not only is it a unique choice that sets a home apart from its neighboring properties, but epoxy is also an affordable material that works extremely hard in a home. Epoxy floors are most commonly found in private garages and basements.
In a garage, epoxy is the most obvious choice because of how strong and resilient it is. This is useful because of the possible dents that may come from the weight of cars parked on top of the garage floors. Any chance of denting disappears when you make the switch to epoxy because of its impact-resistance. In a basement, on the other hand, people may fear water and flooding in the room and epoxy serves as a water-resistant barrier between your floors and your home’s foundation.

Commercial

Are you the owner of commercial space in Orlando looking to improve its lifespan and overall flooring situation? We provide custom high-build epoxy flooring systems to commercial properties that can improve the value of the property. To ensure we minimize the effects that installing new flooring can have on your business hours and operations, we can complete an epoxy coating in the span of two days. As soon as the last layer has dried, you can resume normal operations on your floors.
Epoxy is an extremely versatile material so you can choose to have your business’s colors on your floors or even have your logo imprinted on them. It is a recommended flooring solution for public bathrooms, retail stores, cafeterias, gyms, and large office spaces. Installing epoxy is always a cost-effective choice, even in large spaces that need large amounts of the coating. No matter how you look at it, the costs you save with epoxy’s durability and longevity cannot be understated nor found with any other flooring option.

Industrial

Epoxy flooring started with industrial properties, which is why we are always pleased to repeat tradition by installing epoxy systems on industrial floors. Epoxy is perfect for industrial properties because of one word: high-build. Industrial properties do not have the same needs as commercial and residential properties, where floors are important but do not dictate workplace safety or smooth operations. In industrial properties, floors must do both those things and epoxy fits those responsibilities perfectly.
When it comes to safety, epoxy floors are a great option because they: are slip-resistant, are sanitary, can be customized with OSHA-prescribed colors to indicate safety zones, and do not crack or break apart easily. On the other hand, an epoxy floor facilitates smooth work operations in industrial properties in that they do not need a complex regimen of maintenance and care, can withstand great impact and use, and are affordable enough that they do not cost a company a great deal of money.

To ensure we always deliver the best possible floorings that meet our high standards, we have a standardized process for every project we take on. This ensures the same quality across all the jobs we perform. Our process has been designed to allow for customizations from clients to ensure the highest possible satisfaction from all our customers.

Before we take on any job, we first set up discussions with you, our prospective client. When you call us on our number  (407) 794-1489, you are directed to a member of our team to discuss the project you have in mind and for you to receive a free quote after we have assessed what information you give to us on our call. To get an even more accurate quote, we may even ask for photos of your project to get the right picture of the work it would need. This quote that you will receive from us is not set in stone – it is an estimate. That gives some space for adjustment depending on the next step – the consultation.

If you are interested in our services after we give you a quote, we can set up a free consultation for us to come to your property and see the space in person. This, coupled with specific measurements, assessments, and other evaluative methods, allows us to draw up a proposed plan of action as well as a specific quote and a due date for the project. We want to work with you, which is why we bring our point person to the very first consultation to make sure you know who will be working on your property from the very start. At the consultation, we want to hear about the vision you have for your floors: the design, its characteristics, the budget you have for the project, and other things you may deem important for us to know (such as the timeline you have in mind). This helps us create a plan that will be strictly followed as well as a list of materials that will be needed for the project.

When the plan of action has been written up and you have given your approval for it, the real installation process of the epoxy flooring can begin.

Before we can fully appreciate the beauty of a finished epoxy floor coating, there is prep work that must be done on the floors before they are ready to bind with epoxy. Our prep process is thorough, detailed, and efficient. We have been doing this for long enough to know that weak prep work leads to weak epoxy garage flooring that won’t last. We go into every nook and cranny to make sure the floor is cleaned and prepped.

The actual installation of the epoxy flooring system will largely depend on the kind of epoxy coating service you choose for your space. But we can guarantee that we devote the same care, attention, and high-grade materials to all the jobs we finish. This ensures a smooth and satisfactory finish for your project.

To make sure the decorative concrete floors we install still perform perfectly, we always schedule check-up consultations for past clients. This important tradition allows us, at once, to give our customers unparalleled service and commitment and for us to understand if there are any things we should be doing or avoiding to make every flooring system we install great.

Featured Services at Orlando Epoxy

At Orlando Epoxy, we provide a wide variety of services to be able to give any property the kind of flooring solution they need. Forget the DIY epoxy floor kit and call professionals who can get the job done with skill and efficiency. Among our most popular services are:

Epoxy Floor Coatings Orlando

Perhaps the most common epoxy flooring service for residential and commercial properties because of its affordability and simplicity, an epoxy floor coating delivers stunning results that also leave your floors durable and easy-to-clean.
This kind of epoxy flooring for homes can be done in a matter of 2 days as long as the prep work needed on your floors is not too time-consuming. Older floors that have started to crack and show dents will need more attention than brand-new floors that are still perfectly in shape. Epoxy floor coatings are available in a range of colors, finishes, and effects that can be customized to suit any home or commercial property. More customization details can also be discussed with our Orlando flooring contractors like metallic epoxy floors or 3D floor effects.
Epoxy floor coatings are light-build floors that are not meant to handle large traffic or heavy use, but they can provide great support for light-traffic areas in a residential or commercial property.

Epoxy Chip Floors

Another popular flooring option for many commercial and industrial properties is the epoxy chip floor or epoxy flake floors. A kind of broadcast epoxy floor, they are popular for the distinct multi-dimensional appearance they give floors. But aside from a distinct appearance, epoxy chip floors are incredibly strong floors that provide a stylish solution for flooring systems that need an extra boost.
Epoxy chip floors are strong because of the triple-layer system that goes into installing them. Unlike epoxy floor coatings that have multiple layers of epoxy, an epoxy chip floor has a base layer of epoxy, a middle layer of vinyl chips, and a top sealer of polyaspartic coating.
Vinyl chips provide an extra layer of strength to floors but are also responsible for that distinct look – chips of uniform sizes of three or more colors within a color scheme to create a seamless but fun pop of color. Our vinyl chips at Orlando Epoxy are available in two sizes and in a number of colorways but can also be customized to give your floors the colors you want. And on top, a polyaspartic sealing provides strength, UV-stability, and more impact-resistance than just epoxy.
It’s powerful flooring that we always recommend for commercial and industrial properties looking for medium-to-high build floors.d64

Epoxy Slurry

If you are the owner of older concrete floors that have seen their fair share of wear and tear, you may be wondering how epoxy coating can benefit your floors at all. Luckily, Orlando Epoxy can perform a service that exclusively benefits properties with older concrete floors looking to upgrade their flooring without the cost of ripping up and replacing all the flooring. Aside from opting to other decorative concrete solutions, an epoxy coating might be a great option!
An epoxy slurry is a special thing – it combines normal epoxy with aggregates like sand, slurry powder, or finely-grained silica. This acting of mixing these two components together creates a thick and dense mixture that can be layered onto the old concrete floors with a trowel. It is, in a way, decorative concrete floor resurfacing with epoxy. But not only do we create a new surface where epoxy coating is layered on top of concrete floor to create a new ultra-strong flooring, but the epoxy flooring cost for this kind of service is also far lower than the cost of replacing a flooring system entirely.

Epoxy Mortar Floors

For industrial properties that need the strongest flooring system available on the market, we provide the installation of epoxy mortar floors that are simply unmatched in their ability to withstand almost any kind of impact or traffic that comes with being in an industrial property like a manufacturing plant or factory. Epoxy mortar floors are chemical-resistant, stain-resistant, and impact-resistant. Installed with innovative 5-layer flooring technology, epoxy mortar floors are designed to withstand almost anything in the world. A thick middle layer of mortar protects both the people and the flooring from any accidents or mishaps. Customizations and modifications are also available for epoxy mortar systems to allow for custom colors, custom mortar, and effects.

Epoxy Removal

At Orlando Epoxy, we not only install epoxy flooring systems, but we also remove old epoxy flooring systems that no longer work for you. Epoxy floors are notoriously hard to remove, which is great when you want to keep them but awful when you want to remove them. But hard doesn’t mean it is impossible, and we have perfected a technique at Orlando Epoxy that can completely remove an epoxy flooring system in 1-2 days.
Because epoxy coating creates such a strong bond with the flooring underneath it, it needs special grinders and tools to shave away the epoxy from the flooring underneath. We usually use an acid bath to soften the epoxy if the floors are relatively new, but acid baths will have no impact on older epoxy floors that have completely settled. Grinders with various sized grit toolings and bars are used on the floors to shave away the majority of the epoxy coating. We also use small hand-held and detailed tools to get into every corner of the room and to reach the sides of the floors that the grinder cannot reach. Any fine detail work to get epoxy out of cracks or pits will also have to be done carefully and precisely to make sure no harm is done to the flooring underneath.
When the epoxy has been successfully removed, we can repair cracks, perform a polish-up to remove toolings marks, or even install a new epoxy flooring system that won’t let you down. This service can be performed in any kind of property and on any kind of epoxy, regardless of the time passed since its installation.

Metallic Epoxy Floor Orlando

Are you interested in epoxy floor coatings but are not sure about the design you want on your floors? Many of our more adventurous customers like a metallic effect on their epoxy floors. It is a simple upgrade to your flooring system that can give a pop of dimension to your garage floors or basement without being too flashy.
We can achieve a metallic epoxy floor for a residential or commercial property using the same steps that we take to install a regular epoxy coating. The only extra step is the addition of glitter and aggregates to the epoxy mixture before installation begins. The glitter aggregates we add to the epoxy coating mixture can be entirely customized to reflect the colorway you want as well as the size of each particle.
When we have evenly broadcast the aggregate over the epoxy, you can choose between an epoxy top sealer or a polyaspartic coating to go on top. Both sealers do a great job, but if the metallic epoxy floor will be installed somewhere with a lot of sunlight exposure, a UV-stable polyaspartic coating is what we would recommend.

Why Choose Us

There are three things we at Orlando Epoxy prioritize to be able to install the great flooring we provide: our crew, our materials, and our equipment.

The crew we have put together at Orlando Epoxy is made up of some of the most skilled and professional experienced epoxy contractors in the business. Our crew undergoes regular training for new innovative techniques that we can bring to your floors. We perform skilled epoxy work that is trusted by both the residents and professionals of Orlando, FL. When it comes to choosing an Orlando epoxy flooring company, the crew is important but so is the work we produce.

We are happy to be one of Orlando’s top-rated epoxy flooring companies and we believe that can reflect the quality of the work we produce. All our flooring systems are thoughtfully planned, skillfully executed, and suitably appreciated. We produce good work because of the materials we source. Using only the best water-based and 100% solids epoxy on the market goes a long way towards creating beautiful and functional epoxy flooring systems.

But the only way to truly take advantage of high-quality epoxy is to have a carefully-chosen arsenal of equipment and tools to apply that epoxy correctly. Our equipment at Orlando Epoxy consists of top-of-the-line grinders and hand-held tools like squeegees and sprayers. Having a variety of tools instead of relying on one or two tools means we are prepared for any job and obstacle that may crop up. That versatility and flexibility mean you will never be bothered about unforeseen problems.

So why choose us? At Orlando Epoxy, we have a trustworthy, skilled, and professional crew. We are a trusted flooring contractor, and we will never use materials that we don’t trust and that we wouldn’t use on our own floors. We always source the best at the most affordable prices so you never have to go past your budget. And when it comes to the installation of your flooring systems, we use equipment that can handle the job. At Orlando Epoxy, we understand that flooring is not as simple as what goes under your feet, but that it is also a solution to everyday problems. We want to help with that.

Frequently Asked Question

No. In fact, there are three kinds of epoxy coating that we commonly find used on floors: solvent-borne, water-borne (or water-based), and 100% solids. How are they different from each other?

A solvent-borne epoxy uses a solvent as a carrier for the epoxy, often making up to 70% of the overall mixture. Easily the cheapest of all three types, it is extremely popular in epoxy floor kits. But at Orlando Epoxy, we don’t always tend to use solvent-borne epoxy because of its instability as a formula and how toxic it can be to apply.

Generally, we use either water-based epoxy or 100% solids epoxy. While they are slightly more expensive than solvent-borne epoxies, they are far safer, easier to apply, and deliver better-performing and more attractive epoxy floors.

The cost of an epoxy flooring system will depend on many things: the complexity of the chosen epoxy system, any modifications a client wants to make, the size of the area and how many people it will take to complete the job, the materials wanted, and how much prep work is needed before the job can move forward.

There is no general cost of getting an epoxy flooring system, but we can assure you that it is generally more affordable than other flooring systems available. We encourage you to call us at (407) 794-1489 to receive a more accurate quote from us about what your project will cost to help you make a decision – no strings attached.

For residential properties, we can usually complete a job in 2 or 3 days unless the area is exceptionally large or if the flooring system is very complex.

For commercial properties, we can usually complete a job in 2 to 7 days depending on the area size, the epoxy flooring system you want, and the prep work that needs to be completed.

For industrial properties, it can be hard to give an average timeline for a project because of how many variations exist across industrial properties. We will be able to give a more accurate timeline for completion once we know more about the property and the work. Call Epoxy Flooring Orlando today at (407) 794-1489 to speak to someone on our staff.
